WAS opens

February 4 – March 10, 2017

Opening Reception: Saturday, February 4, 2017, 6.30pm – 9.00pm

WAS opens is the inaugural show for WAS gallery, a new space for art in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The 475 square foot gallery, which adjoins a larger space with three artist studios, promotes the works of emerging and under-represented artists. WAS is open until the shopping center, which houses it, gets demolished, a fate that is imminent in a year to three.

Open to us; open to you; open to uncertainty; open to new possibilities.

WAS is now open.

Featuring a wide range of media—sculpture, painting, photography, and video— WAS opens includes artwork by the gallery’s three residing artists, Jenna North, Fabiola Alvarez Yurcisin and Joumana Moukarim.
